Just turn up between 11 and 12 as you intended to and say the traffic was lighter than you expected. I doubt they will turn you away.

Yeah, some friends of mine confirmed today but couldnt get the 11 - 12 slot that I booked so went for 12 - 1 .. They are still coming at the same time though. If we all turn up at 12 are we all correct? Very Happy

When this started out it was to be a charity ride through Wootton Bassett as one group and then entry into RAF Lyneham to present a cheque to the Afghan Heroes charity on the runway. Due to what I see as over exuberance and a complete lack of control and common sense we are now left with a ride down the High Street, as a thanks to the people of Wootton Bassett in seperate groups and then off home.

With respect, Wootton Bassett High Street is a public road and if people want to drive or ride along it there is very little to stop them. I assume however that the local law will close it for the day for some reason best known to them. I hope the local residents don't come to regret the day they ever heard of this 'tribute' to them.

The number of entrants should have been capped at 3500 (as I suggested to them at the time, see Facebook) and by not doing so it has been spoiled by the organisers in my opinion. Evil or Very Mad

I do agree to a certain extent. This is going to be organised chaos which could backfire and do more harm than good to the biking image. You just know that the press will be watching, waiting for something to happen which they can spread all over the front page.

I really hope everything goes well but if it looks like chaos will ensue I for one will be giving it a miss and go to Avebury for lunch at the Red Lion instead Very Happy

Giving this a miss. It's a shame, but this is now not my idea of a good time. I dont want to do a 500 mile round trip having to arrive at a designated time and then have to go home straight away.
It's a shame because I was really looking forward to this event.

I registered for this event some time ago when it was start at Leigh Delamare services, M4, Wootton Bassett then Lyneham. It has now changed and grown so much I am, reluctantly, giving it a miss. Being local I know the road that is now to be used it won't be my idea of a good time. Sad

Shall we all give a miss then?

NO

This ride is about more that raising money for Afghan Heroes.

You dont have to go straight home mate. You can always get togehter with a few others and go for a ride out afterwards. Their are some great roads in the area and I am sure someone would take you out on them.

Mick

Born in the small pretty town of Wokingham, Berkshire. Brought up in Reading (trust me on this if you think Basingstoke is bad dont go to Reading, its almost as bad as Kipax) and now live in Tadley, between Reading, Newbury and Basingstoke. Oh and if you think Basingstoke is a shit ole, how do you know, did you pass through it once Smile
Its still a bit rough though, but at least it not in that funny bit of the country that dont really speak English and its not quite Scotland either Smile Smile
And have you saved the rose for your screen wallpaper, you didnt say Smile

Yes Keith, Kipax is a real shit 'ol, people often confuse it with where I live, it's not hard to tell us apart though, I live in the one that has two pee's in the middle (there was no way to put that without leaving my self wide open for some sort of urine related come back Laughing ).

Brian, Hull is in Humberside.

interjection
Look chaps , what are you clasifying as crap and a sh one t hole and why.
Is it due to violence, vandalism, graffitti or because there are no social clubs pubs etc to speak of.

If you were a drug adict and lived in brixton you would think that you lived in heaven
If you really loved looking at all sorts of motorcycles and lived in Matlock Bath , again you would be in seventh heaven.

If you are Polish and live and work in Lincoln well say no more.
So both of you are in your own rights living where you both think its the best place at this moment in time , in great Britain.

As it happens i like Slaty Piesky , but Val refuses to move.

I knew that , just thought i would let you two boys know that there are worst places than Kippax and Tadley

Just had a thought, the town centre of Rochester is a no go area after dark , unless you want a fight or a .
The Police have a huge bus in the carpark for drunks to use , tea coffee first aid.
