Hi chaps

I am running a 2001 US spec GL1800.

I want to use my pMR radio and incorporate the fitted PTT lever. I know the restt of the CB controls will not work.

From the wiring diagram I have identified that CB Mic is White, CB Mic Gnd is Silver, CB Audio is LGreen and CB audio Gnd is Silver all in the white 13p plug under the seat. I have also identifies that the PTT is Black.

The wiring diagram seems to indicate at the handlebar swith that it switches to Ground.

The problem is that while I am happy to wire in the PMR to the wires as above I cannot figure out how the PTT will work.

Anyone done this or have a solution please.

Adrian

Hi Adrian, I fitted a PMR to my bike and a pals too.
I used the kennedy audio interphase unit to feed audio into/from the intercom system and it works fine.
The PTT was simple - I just used the 2 pin black connector, found in a boot just to the rear of the relay board, and made a double connection so the ptt switched the CB and the PMR at the same time.
Both work simultaneously if you want them to or you can turn either one OFF and leave the other working on its own, it works well.
I mounted the PMR aerial onto the rear pocket side.

Ian

Thanks for your reply, all very interesting. I take it you plugged the PMR Audio into the audio Aux input plug. I have my Zumo into that, so thats why I wanted to plug into the 13p socket dedicated for the CB but not fitted.

I am confused how you got the PTT to work.

Had a look at your website. I am a Senior Oberserver (IAM) with Devon Advanced Motorcyclists so we have a lot in common.

Do you think plugging in as I sugessted will work ??

Regards

Adrian

No I didnt use the AUX circuit. If the aux is used and the PMR or GPS is selected you then cant listen to the CD or iPod or FMradio becuase they are on a seperate circuit which doesnt interphase with the Aux.

I always use the intercom system for any extra PMR, CB, or GPS units I install - this way its just like having a 3rd person on the intercom and all the other audio systems work fine.
Ian.
