Just joined the forum today and this is my first post,

Anyway, I’ve carried out a search on the forum but not managed to find anything relating to my query. Mind you, I’m hopeless at using forum search engines so apologies if I’ve missed it.

I have a 1976 Honda Goldwing GL 1000 (23,000 miles) and have owned it for the last 10 plus years but to be honest it’s been stored in my garage for most of that time! I have decided to get the bike back on the road and wondered if it would ok to use unleaded petrol without causing any damage to the engine? I believe it may be necessary to adjust the timing etc but I’m thinking more about any damage to valve seats etc.

I would appreciate any advice with regards to this before taking it for a blast

Regards, Paul

Honda were very clever back in the day and foresaw the change of fuel from leaded to unleaded and therefore their engines were designed to run on both.

Hi All,

Can anyone advise on whether the timing would need adjusting now that I will be using unleaded instead of leaded?

Regards, Paul

Leave everything as Honda set it.
It will be fine
Use a recomended for older engines oil though as i found that my old goldwings did not like synthetic, semi synthetic, duckhams type oils, but preferred castrol GTX for older engines.
